When a dog growls, they are communicating a message. What that message means is an entirely different thing. Some dogs growl to tell us they're scared, other times they may growl because they're in pain. We've also witnessed dogs growling to demonstrate their territory.

Some forms of growling are harmless, but sadly this can also be associated with anger or aggression problems. In situations like this, it's critical to find out the cause of the problem and to handle it accordingly. Unattended behavioral problems that are not properly addressed can cause major damage and permanent issues for your pooch.
